Named after a tribe of the Iriquois, Oneida County is located in Central New York, west of the city of Albany. Oneida County is home to the famous Turning Stone Resort and Casino. Offering spas, restaurants, entertainment and a championship golf course, the Turning Stone draws visitors all year round. Those looking for a different kind of entertainment can visit the Vernon Downs Racetrack, Casino and Hotel for the track and gaming. The Adirondack Scenic Railroad runs from the county to the Adirondack Mountains. Utica is one of the counties major cities. Every year Utica hosts the Annual Boilermaker road race. Other known areas are Rome and the Mohawk River that flows into the Hudson.
