Onondaga County is located in Central New York at the intersection of Interstate 81 and the New York State Thruway. The largest city in this county is Syracuse NY, home to the prestigious Syracuse University, which has the Northeast’s only domed stadium and the country\’s largest building of it’s kind on a campus. With the capacity of holding almost 50,000 people, the Carrier Dome is used for not only as the home of the SU Orangemen, but has been used for NCAA basketball championships, ice skating shows and numerous music concerts. LeMoyne College, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Onondaga Community College, and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry also reside in the county. Popular attractions are the Rosamand Gifford Zoo at Burnet park, historic Armory Square and the New York State Fair which occurs every summer and draws thousands of visitors annually. Hancock International Airport is the largest local airport, making it a much utilized facility for travelers across Central and Northern New York as their main connection for vacation and business destinations.
